CAMHS CAST Service

This is a multi-disciplinary team countywide. Our aim is for school staff and other professionals to feel supported in working with children and young people with mild to moderate mental health difficulties. Every school has a named CAST worker who they can contact. In certain circumstances we are able to offer consultations on a 1-1 basis for individual children and young people. We are also able to offer advice for individual children and young people when they would like to remain anonymous and on issues involving groups of children where there is a concern e.g. self-harm. We work closely with Specialist CAMHS to ensure a seamless transition into treatment for those children who need it most and can make recommendations to other agencies about how to support the emotional and mental well-being of a child/young person by offering strategies, recommendations and possible overview via supervision and consultation of an agreed action. They offer a service for professionals working with young people who are experiencing mental health difficulties. Young people must be registered with a Worcestershire GP and must not be already open to Specialist CAMHS The aim of the service:- Professionals gain improved knowledge of a specific mental health subject to increase confidence in dealing with this in school and knowledge of other services and resources available.
